Reverend
Michael C. Jones, the Dancing Poet is author of three poetry
books and will debut the fourth book before the end of 2007. He has hosted
many poetry venues throughout the city of Detroit, most recently The
Harlequin Café in Indian Village. The Dancing Poet has performed in many
southeast Michigan cities including Plymouth, Livonia, Farmington Hills,
Southfield as well as other cities nationwide including Chicago;
Philadelphia, and Saint Louis.
During his career Michael
has performed collage dancing in a host of other cities and countries around
the world including Asia, Canada, the Philippines, Italy, France, Spain and
Sicily. Various local library forums have featured Mr. Jones, most recently
at the Main Library’s Comerica Java and Jazz Coffee House series. Reverend Jones stands out in every crowd for which he performs with
his tantalizing Asian kicks, European twirls, and African hip gyrating,
Michael has participated in
other events in capacities ranging from poetry judge, poetry facilitator of
the annual poetry event at Christ the King Catholic Church Valentine’s Day
Poetry reading, open Mic participant, Detroit Association of Women’s Club
facilitator and many other activities, receiving recognition from the
International Society of Poets Symposium in Washington, D.C.
Employed by and retired
from the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, Mr. Jones recited
poetry and performed collage dancing for various holiday celebrations held
for employees of the City of Detroit. Mr. Jones’ is the host for
the Christ the King Catholic Church Annual Valentines Day “Celebrate Love” Series.
Mr. Jones is a Vietnam
Veteran. And although he weathered the war with no scars, he has not
forgotten the Veterans who were less fortunate. Each year, He visits Cass
Park, downtown Detroit, where he provides clothing, food and entertainment
to the homeless.

entertaining, assisting with the publishing process, counseling children on
